Arduino Programming Notebook

I found this very useful book written by Brian W. Evans detailing what some of the programming codes mean and what they do. It also has some examples, which are very useful.

The book is reasonably priced

It can also be downloaded for free as a PDF file

The scary thought of coding a cube

I don't really know any coding. So this is going to be a challenge me for to do. Right now I need to get the lights working, and to figure out what type of sensor to use.

This was something I used in the mini assignment, but it shows the limitation of the Arduino board

One picture but no schematics

Another site with no information, but the picture does give me some ideas on what to do. I just wish people would post schematics of the layout.

Features a useful picture, but no information

Browsing the web for information on what to do

In order for me to create this 3D cube, I decided to use the internet to find information on how people have created there own cubes. The funny thing is that no one really posted anything that I could use. Despite the fact that a lot of people posted videos on video sharing sites. I feel that this project is gonna get very difficult soon. But I did find a few sites that do help a little bit.

This details a similar project using an AVR micro controller

Strange looking naked 3D cube with some dodgy wiring, but no schematics

This seems useful but then it says something about programming the FTDI

Probably the most useful in detailing how to create the cube

Sketching how the cube might look

I did some sketches of how it might look. But I'm not really sure how it would turn out in physical form. The way I envision it, is that it would be a 3D box with all the LED lights on 5 sides and the base with nothing. I'm not sure how I would use that, I mean it needs to be held up a little.

Posting sketches later.

Buying parts for the project

The parts are so expensive!!

I went into Maplin thinking it wouldn't cost so much but look at the pay receipts!!

Posting images later.

What to do for assignment 3

This has been puzzling me for a while, but looking at the many LED cubes that people have posted on YouTube I thought well why not. I mean it does look interesting and besides depending on how you look at it, there is an artistic side to this project.
